Finding the right traineeship is a bit like meeting the right partner in life. At Dania – Danish Academy of Business and Technology this led us to the idea of Traineeship Dating where our Marketing Management students and companies had the opportunity to look for perfect matches on the late afternoon of Thursday 16 September.

Speed-dating style
Almost 100 Marketing Management students walked from café table to café table where representatives of large, medium and small company were trying to woo the students. Speed-dating style, each "date" lasted 7 minutes after which a bell would sound the signal to move on to the next table. The students had brought updated CVs and the companies were offering relevant traineeships. The students learned about the tasks they would be faced with as trainees, and they had the opportunity to market their personal talents to potential future employers.

Marketing Management students in high demand
Marketing Management Programme Manager Annette D. Lyng-Madsen says:
– A traineeship will enhance your network, and a good network will often result in a job. That's the main idea behind Traineeship Dating. Despite all the talk of financial crisis, our students are in very high demand, which the interest shown by the company representatives also clearly showed.

– The traineeship period for our 2nd- year marketing students will start in January 2010, but already at the end of October this year we expect 80 % of our students to have entered into traineeship agreements with companies. From experience we know that the remaining 20 % will also have found traineeships in good time.

Trainees are in demand in many lines of business
The traineeship, which is a compulsory part of the two-year higher-education Marketing Management programme, enables students to use the qualifications they have obtained during their studies in real life. Furthermore, they get the opportunity to get acquainted with lines of business that they may not have known before or may not have thought relevant to their education.

The company representatives were satisfied with the Traineeship-Dating event and were happy to visit the academy to "date" our students, Annette D. Lyng-Madsen continues. That way they were also able to introduce their company and tell our students what expectations they have to future trainees. The representatives liked this form of face-to-face contact and found that the students were very well-prepared.

Among the companies which have Dania trainees are: Makers Kommunikation, Dansk Supermarked, Randers FC A/S, Erhverv Århus, FocusChina Trading ApS, Randers Bryghus, Danske Netværk, HR Industries, Develtron, Aker Seafoods Danmark and Urtegården A/S.
